Charlotte van Sassen is a General Practitioner, doing a PhD research that focuses on improving clinical reasoning education using malpractice claims. This research project is a collaboration between iMERR and the department of General Practice of ErasmusMC. Improving clinical reasoning education has been identified as an important way to reduce diagnostic errors. It has been suggested in the literature that the study of error cases have more impact on people and therefore facilitates learning. On the other hand, learning from mistakes could also interfere with learning because of the emotions involved. For this research we gained access to the database of the largest liability insurer of the Netherlands (VVAA).
