My clinical work is as a pediatric intensivist at the Erasmus MC-Sophia. The title of my inaugural lecture as professor of postgraduate medical education was “lasting a lifetime”. I strongly believe in a growth mindset and life-long-learning as a way to deal with the ever changing landscape of healthcare. Learning is not limited to medical content and should include personal professional development as a means to remain “fit to perform” and in balance with your own goals and internal compass. Finding your own goals and a career in healthcare that fits you is a major theme in my research. Developing evidence based strategies to help diverse (young) professionals to find their own path is key. Therefore my research is aimed at selection as well as personal development with a specific interest in coaching.
